Sheep(ish) Newsletter – I love the Urban Revival beanie, but I am allergic to wool. What non-wool yarn would appropriate for this pattern?
Pam, you can use Simply Soft, as it has pretty much the same gauge as Sheep(ish). – Cari
Thanks for your reply Cari.
I’m all ready to crochet the urban revival beanie, but in checking the gauge I’m way off, even using an H hook 18 sts are over 5″. The reason I’m concerned is because almost all of the time I crochet right @ gauge. Is there a misprint or correction for this pattern?
Hmmm, I’ve made 2 of them myself and several others have made them and haven’t mentioned a gauge problem. The challenge with crochet is that unlike knitting where the stitches are semi-regulated by the needle they sit on, crochet stitches are at the whim of stitchers’ varying grips. I’d just get as close as you can using whichever size hook works for you.
I am new to crocheting….and I love the urban revival beanie, but cannot get the same results as what the picture shows. I think my problem arises where round one and two come together. I have tried so many times but nothing seems to work. Is there any advice you can give, or some sort of picture instructions.
Thanks!
