This week we are offering this cute little turtle amigurumi pattern designed by Tracie Barrett. With his bright green shell and the smile on his face, he is sure to be a favorite!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Amigurumi measures approximately 4”/10cm long
YARN: Caron International’s Simply Soft: ##9750 Chocolate (A): 1 skein and #9607 Limelight (B)
CROCHET HOOK: One size US F-5 (3.75 mm), or size to obtain gauge.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: Yarn needle, two 6mm safety eyes, fiberfill stuffing, stitch markers
GAUGE: 20 sts and 24 rows sc = 4″/10 cm. Exact gauge is not critical for this project, stitching should be tight.
STITCHES USED: Chain (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st)
SPECIAL TERMS: sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together—Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (two loops on hook), insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all three loops on hook.
To Change Color: Work sc until 2 loops remain on hook, drop first color, yarn over with 2nd color, draw through last 2 loops on hook.
NOTE: Do not join rounds. Place a marker in the last stitch of round and move up as rounds progress.

With B, ch 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join—6 sc. Place marker in last stitch.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around, change to A in last stitch—12 sc.
Round 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around—18 sc.
Round 4: *Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around—24 sc. Drop B, join A.
Work in the following color sequence throughout shell: *2 rows A; 2 rows B; repeat from * throughout.
Round 5: *Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around—30 sc.
Round 6: Sc in each sc around.

FINISHING: With yarn needle and sewing length, whipstitch head to base. Weave in ends.
