YARN: Caron International’s Simply Soft: #0001 Vanilla (A) and #9750 Chocolate (B)
CROCHET HOOK: One size US E-4 (3.5 mm), or size to obtain gauge.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: Yarn needle, Fiberfill stuffing, Stitch marker
GAUGE: 22 sts and 23 rows sc = 4″/10 cm. Exact gauge is not critical for this project, stitching should be tight.
STITCHES USED: Chain (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st)
SPECIAL TERMS: sc2tog: Single Crochet two together—Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.
NOTE: Do not join rounds. Place a marker in the last stitch of round and move up as rounds progress.
Cookie (make 2)
With B, ch 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join—6 sc. Place marker in last stitch.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around—12 sc.
Round 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around—18 sc.
Round 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around—24 sc.
Round 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around, join with sl st in next st—30 sc.
Fasten off. Weave in ends. With yarn needle and A, work French knots for eyes and back st mouth on one cookie as pictured.
With A, ch 31.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn—30 sc.
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Fasten off.
Round 1: Matching sts, lay the filling piece on top of the cookie piece with wrong sides together. Working with B, and with filling piece facing you, working through back loop only of the filling piece and through both loops of the cookie piece, sc evenly around the piece, join with sl st in first sc, turn.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Rep Joining on other side of filling with second cookie piece, stuffing cookie lightly before completing round 1.
FINISHING: Weave in ends. Roll in hands to evenly distribute stuffing.
