Dear Cari,

Just has to say that discovering your name here made me grin!

Surely you must be the same Cari Clements who wrote that great all-purpose sweater pattern that came with my Bond knitting machine 21 years ago? :) I'm STILL using that pattern, on the next generation of family members!

Thanks from your fan! Ellen

Thanks so much!
I found an OLD pattern for a gansey sweater that calls for light weight yarn rather than sport weight yarn, and I will knit a swatch and see how it holds and drapes if knit using one strand only. If that fails, I will go with the pattern that calls for heavier yarn, and will double the strand. Thank you. Lois

You can definitely use 2 strands together. And this will lessen any drape that typically occurs with SPA yarn.

I love Spa yarn, but was a little surprised when my teenaged son loved the feel of it so much that he wanted his next sweater made out of it... Most patterns you have are for light women's sweaters or baby items. He likes gansey type patterns made with a worsted weight yarn or heavier... suggestions for a pattern? Would the yarn droop too much in such a sweater? Could I double the stands? He even went so far as to choose a color: Stormy Blue. I bought it, and knit a swatch with one strand in a cable.... gorgeous and luxurious.

Hi Cari, I need help with the crochet pattern "Criss Cross Cowl", don't know if you can help me with this; it says in round 3 after:(push ch-5 sps to front) {I don't have a problem with that} it's with this that comes after that sentence: "dc in 3 skipped sts BELOW the next ch- 5 sp." If I crochet below the ch 5 sps, I'll be pushing the ch5 sps toward the back. Is that correct?? I hope you can help..

You'll actually be decreasing (at the crown) and there's no increasing, so I'd just follow the written pattern rather than the chart and I think you'll find it will work better for you. For every increased st (yo), you'll have a decreased st (ssk), so they equal each other out. Hope that helps.
